The National Water Development Agency (NWDA) is an autonomous organization under the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India. Established in 1982, NWDA is responsible for carrying out water balance studies, feasibility studies, detailed project reports, and the planning and implementation of inter-basin water transfer projects under the National Perspective Plan. The agency plays a key role in integrated water resources development, irrigation, flood management, and sustainable water conservation across the country.
