Promoting Integrity, Transparency & Accountability
The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) is the apex integrity institution of India, established in 1964 and accorded statutory status under the Central Vigilance Commission Act, 2003. The Commission functions as an independent body responsible for preventing corruption, promoting transparency, and maintaining integrity in the administration of Central Government organizations, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Public Sector Banks, insurance companies, and other autonomous bodies under the Government of India.
Headquartered in New Delhi, the CVC supervises vigilance administration, advises government organizations on vigilance matters, monitors corruption-related investigations, and oversees the functioning of Chief Vigilance Officers (CVOs) across various departments and organizations. The Commission works closely with agencies such as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), enforcement authorities, and government departments to strengthen accountability and good governance.
The CVC plays a crucial role in promoting ethical practices, preventive vigilance, transparency initiatives, and anti-corruption mechanisms. The organization provides opportunities for professionals in law, public administration, finance, investigation, auditing, governance, policy analysis, information technology, and vigilance management.
